What’s French for Playlist?

Published by amy on

Day 2 of the launch-day countdown! Only five days till What’s French for Oops? goes LIVE!

Today… the music to set the mood. For your listening, and viewing, pleasure, a few tunes that capture the feels, the aesthetic, the locations and lovin’… of the book.

We begin in London, with a roudy pub, hungry for chips… and a gorgeous stranger’:

But here comes a nasty shock. And another. And another. Best not be attracted to your boss, especially when he seems to have a bit of a stick up his arse…

Next stop, ready or not, Paris! And you can’t go far without being serenaded on a train or in a Métro station. This particular tune is a regular favourite…

Life in Paris, for all it’s perks, is hella confusing if you don’t have much French. Jean is a tragically monolingual New Zealander and there’s really no better way to capture that experience than…

Speaking of “soupe du jour”, if you missed yesterday’s countdown give-away, there’s a sexy soup recipe (believe it or not… that’s a thing now) for you here.

Meanwhile, Matt’s got the language down but he’s got his own share of issues. This whole half-time dad gig can be fraught. On top of that, here comes this chaos-on-legs nanny his ex-wife hired from the other side of the globe, sight unseen…

Jean has her melancholy moments too: a long way from home, and she doesn’t really know anyone, doesn’t feel like she belongs. She’ll never be Parisienne.

You have to know that the real killer is the forbidden attraction. The long looks. The accidental imaginings. The undeniable curiosity. It’s not just me, is it?

Resisting temptation is one thing. Resisting temptation in Paris… whole nother ball game. The light is, I swear it, pink. The river glows, damn it. People dance on the banks of the Seine and all the statues are basically naked. The lights and music and the fête will drive you to distraction…

Delayed gratification makes the gratification so much better. Who isn’t a fan of a slow-burn, three full series of a TV show, will-they-won’t-they sizzle-and-pop? When they finally connect, well…

The whole forbidden thing, it’s fiery and fantastic, but it’s not going to make life easy.Getting caught would be a disaster, but there are other dangers lurking…

Maybe it’s time to try NOT giving in to temptation… for a change. Maybe some distance.

Love, though, has this annoying way of making you stupid-happy, in the middle of chaos.

Until it doesn’t…

Things just keep getting more messy. No spoilers, but suffice to say…

Lessons gotta be learned, but the wonderful thing about reading romance is… there’s always a way. In the end…

Happy-ever-after guaranteed. How they get there… that’s the interesting bit. Five days and you get to find out! You can even pre-order What’s French for Oops? now, so you don’t forget.

ps. I say that because I’m that person. I’d forget. You’re probably much better at remembering, but pre-order just means it will magically arrive on your e-reader on Valentine’s Day.

pps. If you’re not a kindle person, all the other e-reader options will also be up on February 14th, and a paperback version of What’s French for Oops? will be available on Amazon.

ppps. the French word for playlist is, in fact, playlist. And THIS playlist is all lined up on YouTube…
